pH-Induced Nutrient Lockout

A range of symptoms appearing together (yellowing, spots, tip burn) that do not respond to feeding. The problem is not nutrient shortage but pH preventing uptake. Always check and fix pH before adding more nutrients.

What usually causes it

  • pH drifting outside 6.0-7.0 soil, 5.5-6.5 hydro/coco
  • Using uncalibrated or drifted pH meter
  • Tap water with high alkalinity buffering the pH up
  • Salt accumulation in substrate shifting pH
