Light Bleaching

Upper canopy leaves and sometimes bud tips lose all green pigmentation and turn white or cream. Photoinhibition has destroyed chlorophyll. Raise the lamp immediately - bleached tissue does not recover. With high-output LEDs at close range bleaching can start below 1000 umol/m2/s, especially without CO2.

What usually causes it

• Light hung below the manufacturer minimum distance
• Sustained PPFD above ~1000 umol/m2/s on cannabis without CO2 enrichment
• High-output LED bars at very close range over individual colas
