Hermaphroditism - Heat / Environmental Stress

Prolonged high temperatures (above 30 C), root stress or plant damage can trigger self-pollination as a survival mechanism. Pollen from hermaphroditic plants can pollinate the entire crop producing seedy buds.

What usually causes it

  • Chronic heat above 30 C during flowering
  • Root damage, nutrient lockout, or severe stress mid-flower
