Aphids

Clusters of small soft-bodied insects (green, black, brown or white) on stems and under leaves. They secrete sticky honeydew which can cause sooty mould. Aphids reproduce very fast and can transmit viruses.

What usually causes it

• Introduced from outdoors or via infected cuttings
• High nitrogen encouraging lush, soft growth aphids prefer
• Absence of natural predators
