GreenPlanet Nutrients grew out of Pacific Northwest Garden Supply Ltd, a hydroponic retail store started by Steven Betts in British Columbia, Canada in 1993. Working the shop floor exposed the founders to gaps in the plant nutrition products available to indoor growers, which led the company to move from retail into formulating and manufacturing its own line of nutrients. The brand centers on four base feed programs aimed at different experience levels and cultivation systems: the 1-part Medi-One organic blend, the 2-part Dual Fuel, the 3-part GP3, and the 4-part Hydro Fuel. Alongside the bases sit a range of supplements and boosters, plus the Horti Commercial Line, a highly soluble powdered system aimed at commercial hydroponic and greenhouse operations. Together the range covers the recurring problem indoor growers face of matching nutrient chemistry to their water, medium, and growth stage across veg and bloom. Products are manufactured in Canada and formulated in-house, with Medi-One built around organic inputs such as hydrolyzed fish and other naturally sourced materials, while the mineral lines are designed for hydroponics, coco, and soilless media. The company positions its products in the mid to premium tier of the hydroponic nutrient market and distributes through independent hydro shops rather than mass retail. Customers range from hobby indoor gardeners running tents under LED lighting to licensed commercial cultivators using recirculating and drain-to-waste hydroponic systems. GreenPlanet has an established footprint in Canada and the United States and is distributed into the UK, Europe, and other international markets through hydroponic specialty retailers.
